Beginners Questions • [Software] wrong timezone with Firefox-esr

It is a bit weird that a profile can dictate the timezone. I was under the assumption that the timezone is a function of the OS and Firefox has system calls that pick it up.
Even though I don't know much about computer science I found it odd but it's a fact, at least for my installation. My profile is around 5 or 6 years old and it's the first problem, a little weird, that's for sure, that I have.

I may have solved it but I'll never know the origin. Here's what I did:

1- I tried to understand how a new profile is created
2- starting with only one file, times.json, and using the experience I've just gained I copied all the directories which previously have shown themselves to be safe and I also copied the files needed for logins and passwords
3- I started Firefox-esr with this incomplete profile and Firefox-esr created all the files it needed to work

With this method I got a profile with the right time zone and perfectly working, i.e unlike the previous modified profiles I could open any page I wanted, I wasn't stuck with the first pages opened by Firefox. Before I can be sure everything's okay I have to wait at least one month because my old, faulty profile could run smoothly for a long period and suddenly go haywire.
