I agree with mrmazda. You would be much better off learning how UEFI works than clinging to the old BIOS system.

That said, I will mention one issue not well known when trying to convert from UEFI to BIOS. Compare /usr/lib/grub on your new BIOS system with any of your UEFI systems. You'll notice the former has a sub-directory for i386-pc, while the latter does not. To install Grub in BIOS mode on any system you are converting, you need to copy the i386-pc folder to said system. Same thing is true if setting up a system (e.g., a full install USB drive) that one wants to be able to boot in both modes, which is the context this comes up for me. By the way, you also need to add a BIOS boot partition if the drive is formatted GPT (usually the case).

For others who may run into this issue, one way to generate the i386-pc folder is to install a test box in VirtualBox or KVM/QEMU, then copy out the folder to USB flash drive.
