Phoronix may tell you if you search around its site, or you may have to do a web search to find out if it needs a newer Mesa. After getting back to my computer, I checked in on “single user mode” in advanced menu and couldn’t find it with only normal and recovery mode being an option, is there a different way to access text mode?
And to what @stevepusser said would that mean then I would have to wait for a later version of Debian or try something else like MX? And how would I tell of it needs a kernel update or a newer Mesa?
You could try Live versions of Ubuntu or Mint to see if their ISOs get to a GUI. We have a slightly newer Mesa than Bookworm's in the MX Linux 23 AHS Edition, but I haven't been able to backport any more recent versions than that. (Rust issues) AHS does have newer kernels and firmware, so if that fails, it's probably Mesa.
There's always the adventure of running testing/Sid, too.
