I was basically providing troubleshooting steps. I use neither Gnome nor Wayland, but now you know where to point your finger with a bug report or web search if no one else chimes in here with better help, and a backport kernel doesn't help either. You might find additional clues by booting some live media distro version that's newer than Bookworm. Latest Mint was just last month, openSUSE Leap in June, and Ubuntu and Fedora in April.
