I think you may be bitten by the same bug I'm experiencing. I'm using Archlinux on my personal laptop, and see similar behavior. There seems to be a workaround, but I just chose to remove all references to 'suspend' in /etc/systemd/logind.conf - drastic, but works so far.
For me, the symptom is that the system will suspend just fine, but hitting 1 keyboard or mouse button results in the system to hang indefinitely until I poweroff the system.
