It may be worth noting that there are "release notes" for each Debian major release (search the Debian site) with specific instructions for each release on how to prepare and begin the upgrade. I would suggest to follow the release notes to avoid problems.

As @bbbhltz has already pointed out, Debian does not support skipping major releases during an upgrade.I am preparing to upgrade from Debian 10 to Debian 12. My first thought was that I should do a complete install from scratch. But I came across an article in linuxpatch.com which provides a list of commands for achieving this. The reference is:
upgrade-debian-10-to-debian-12
So I wonder if anyone has used the scheme, following the 7 commands for upgrade 10-> 11 and another 7 for upgrade 11->12?
